"A lot has changed since my last profile for this page [in June 2004]. Around a year ago I moved back to Perth and am now a Senior Engineer at the BHP Billiton Perth Technology Centre. I have continued working on fault detection and diagnosis and process improvement.

Within BHP Billiton I am part of a Technology Group which adds value to various sites throughout the organisation. I am currently part of a Technical Steering Committee providing input and direction for an Asset Management System being developed in consortium with two other partners.

One of the benefits of working for a company as large as BHP Billiton is being able to work on a number of different projects around Australia and throughout the world. I have definitely chosen an exciting career.”

"I am employed as an engineer at Matrikon Inc in Newcastle, NSW. I work in the Advanced Applications department which focuses on developing solutions to various industrial problems.

We are involved in increasing production, improving yields, pushing processes to constrained limits, reducing product variability and controlling systems with long delays and dynamics through a variety of intelligent system techniques.

Currently I am working on a project relating to an optimisation of a grinding circuit in order to maximise throughput. Future work will be in the area of predictive maintenance and fault diagnosis.

In my spare time, I enjoy cycling around Newcastle, catching up with friends (some of whom have relocated over east) and working my way through all the cafés on Darby Street in Newcastle."
