Honours, MSc and PhD Scholarships

The utilisation of many of Australia's valuable mineral resources depends on our ability to efficiently and economically extract metals and metallic compounds such as alumina, gold, nickel, cobalt, copper and zinc using advanced hydrometallurgical processing methods. The Parker Centre is actively involved at the forefront of exciting developments in improving these extraction processes, while minimising their environmental impacts.

The Parker Centre invites outstanding science and engineering students to apply for research scholarships for PhD, MSc and Honours (4th year) degrees. See below for student projects available.

Students should have a background in chemistry, physics, extractive metallurgy, mineral science, engineering (chemical, process, metallurgical, electrical or mechanical), mathematics, computer science or biotechnology. This is an opportunity to join the world's leading hydrometallurgical research organisation, and has proved to be an excellent stepping stone to a career in the minerals industry. The scholarships are valid at Curtin University of Technology (Perth, WA), Murdoch University (Perth, WA) and the University of Queensland (Brisbane).

Honours: up to A$5,000 stipend per annum may be granted as as full or top-up funding to other scholarships.

MSc and PhD: top-up to other scholarships (up to a total of A$23,100 over three years).

Special Case Parker Students: these non-monetary awards are given to students not eligible to receive the above top-up scholarships and take the form of funding for professional development courses, conference fees etc, up to A$1000 per annum.

The scholarships are open to all Australian citizens and permanent residents.

Students may apply for scholarships at any time but scholarship availability will depend on resources.
