Dr Aleks Nikoloski In June 2003, Dr Aleks Nikoloski wrote: "I am employed as a process engineer at BHP Billiton’s QNI nickel and cobalt refinery located in Yabulu, 25 km north of Townsville in Queensland. I work in the Technology Department which handles various optimisation and development projects. My present position is Technical Leader of an on-site constructed and operated pilot plant for a final stage development of a project aimed at tripling QNI’s current nickel production capacity. The processing side of the project involves re-leaching an intermediate product from a planned pressure acid leach operation in WA, and refining the liquor using solvent extraction and reduction precipitation processes. In my spare time, I continue to follow the latest research and development news in hydrometallurgy, and whenever possible I try to enjoy the recreational activities available in the tropical environment surrounding Townsville."
Dr Nikoloski is currently a Parker Centre postdoc with Professor Mike Nicol at Murdoch University.
