Legislation introduced by the Australian Government in December 2001 requires organisations like the Parker Centre to have a privacy policy.

The Parker Centre respects the privacy of all individuals and organisations whose details are included in our records or databases. This information is primarily collected for:

• managing the Centre's research, education and technology transfer activities.
• facilitating other generally accepted business practises and providing services.
• promoting the Centre's activities.

The personal information collected by the Centre may include names, mailing addresses, position titles, telephone/fax numbers, e-mail addresses and other provided information. Such information is generally collected directly from individuals but there are some instances where personal information may be collected from other sources.

We will not collect or retain sensitive information unless it is required to enable us to provide services or satisfy legislative requirements, and then it will only be collected with the individual's consent.

The contact details, and in some cases the research interests, of Parker Centre staff and students are provided on the Centre's website to facilitate communication within the Centre. In addition, this enables interested parties to find Centre members with appropriate expertise.

The Centre will make every effort to ensure that the personal information held by the Centre is accurate.

The Parker Centre will not disclose any personal information for any other purpose than the above without the person's consent, except where the use or disclosure is required or authorised by law. We will not sell personal information, in whole or in part.

The Centre will take reasonable steps to protect collected information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. The Centre's head office is located in a building with after hours security. The computers on which personal information is stored are password protected and their anti-viral software is frequently updated. Hard copies of potentially sensitive information are held in a secure location.

Individuals who:

• have any questions or comments regarding privacy
• wish to access their personal information
• wish to correct personal information
• do not consent to the Parker Centre using their personal information as above
